About Us

JT London Walkers has grown from a love of touring historic London by foot

So much history is bound up in the stones, streets, buildings and geographical landmarks, that needs to be told.

The native Londoner or British tourist as well as the International traveller can but marvel at the wealth of hundreds of years of civilisation and culture which has flourished in London.


Our speciality is the history of the Jewish Community in the City of London, in The East End and in the West End

Tour I: Medieval settlement & expulsion

Medieval settlement in the City of London featuring the Old Jewish quarter, the stories about changing fortunes of the Medieval Jews and the decline from prosperity to poverty and eventually expulsion in 1290 .
Return in 1656 and resettlement is touched upon before the conclusion of the tour.

Tour II: Return Resettlement and the Wave of Immigration

Return and resettlement of the Jews from 1656 in the City of London and the growth of the Community in the "Old Jewish East End" visiting Bevis Marks, Dukes Place, Sandys Row, Spitalfields, Brick Lane.  Continue through the fascinating corners of Whitechapel, 
Stepney and Mile End into the "New Jewish East End" which accommodated the Tidal Wave of Immigration. Visiting
Whitechapel Road, Fieldgate Street, Stepney Green, Rectory Square, Mile End Road

- Jewish Whitechapel -Commercial Road

with its very wide pavements, was a social hub for the Jewish East End, perfect for the daytime market and Saturday evening promenades.
This area became prominent after the mass immigration of Jews mainly from eastern Europe from 1880 onwards. This immigration was poor and desperately needed work and decent accommodation to house large families
